Cusco 5D/4N
Cusco, ancient capital of the powerful Inca Empire, is located in the heart of the Andes Mountains, 3,400 meters above sea level. This millenary city was the nerve center from which the vast territories of Tahuantinsuyo were administered, which covered areas of what are now Colombia, Ecuador, Bolivia, Chile and Argentina. Because of its importance, the Incas considered it the “Navel of the World”.
Today, Cusco is a place that captivates every visitor with its mixture of living history and Andean charm. Its cobblestone streets, ancient Inca buildings and colonial temples reveal a glorious past. To walk through its squares, markets and monuments is to immerse oneself in a city that keeps in every corner the memory of one of the most fascinating civilizations of America.
Day 1 - Arrival to Cusco - City Tour
Exploration Day in Cusco
Today we start the day waking up early and enjoying a good breakfast. You will have the morning free to explore the city of Cusco and be amazed by its charms. Former capital of the Inca Empire, Cusco is a city that breathes history, art and a unique cultural heritage.
Afternoon Tour: Archaeological City Tour
Our guided tour will begin at 1:15 pm, so we recommend having lunch beforehand, as we will return to the hotel at approximately 6:30 pm.
We will start the visit with the majestic Cathedral of Cusco, considered a living museum of colonial religious art. Inside you can appreciate unique works made by indigenous artists during colonization, reflecting the syncretism between Inca traditions and European culture. From this encounter was born the famous pictorial style known as the Cusco School.
Then, we will visit the impressive Qoricancha or Temple of the Sun, whose name in Quechua means “Golden Fence”. This temple, located in the current convent of Santo Domingo, was the most important religious center of the Inca Empire and the main place for the worship of the Sun God. According to the Andean cosmovision, it was considered the center of the universe.
We will continue our visit to the four archaeological complexes located on the outskirts of the city:
Sacsayhuaman: Monumental Inca construction that dominates Cusco from above. Its name means “Puma’s Head”. Its gigantic stone walls continue to amaze locals and strangers for its perfection and magnitude. It was also considered a ceremonial center and a sacred place for the Sun God.
Qenqo: This ceremonial site, whose name means “Labyrinth”, would have been used for astronomical rituals and religious ceremonies. Its zigzag channels and subway enclosures reinforce its sacred character.
Pukapukara: Known as the “Red Fortress”, this structure must have had defensive and surveillance functions due to its strategic location overlooking the valley. Its name comes from the reddish tone of its stones.
Tambomachay: Place of water worship and possible resting place of the Inca. It has a network of aqueducts, canals and fountains, harmoniously integrated with the natural environment.
After the tour, we will be back in Cusco at approximately 6:20 pm. If you wish, you can stay in the Plaza de Armas to enjoy dinner, stroll or shop before returning on your own to the hotel.

Day 2 - Sacred Valley of the Incas
Adventure Day: Sacred Valley of the Incas and Aguas Calientes
Today we embark on a new adventure to the majestic Sacred Valley of the Incas. Remember that this day you will have to check-out at the hotel in Cusco, since the overnight stay will be in the town of Aguas Calientes, also known as Machu Picchu Pueblo.
It is advisable to have your luggage prepared in advance, as we will pick you up at your hotel around 07:40 am. For this trip, we suggest you take only a backpack or small suitcase with what you need for one night (light clothing, personal hygiene items, camera, documents, etc.). Large suitcases should be kept in custody at the hotel in Cusco.
We will start the tour visiting the city of Pisac, located about 33 km from Cusco. The name “Pisac” comes from the Quechua word for “partridge”, since the base where the archaeological site sits is shaped like this bird. This complex, located high in the mountains, stands out for its spectacular agricultural terraces that embrace the Andean landscape.
Then, we will descend to the Pisac handicraft market, located in the main square, where you can explore and purchase beautiful pieces of pottery, textiles, silverware and traditional paintings. You will have free time to explore and shop.
Our journey continues to Urubamba, where we will enjoy a buffet lunch included. On the way, we will contemplate the unique landscapes of the Sacred Valley, full of charm and natural beauty.
After lunch, we will head to Ollantaytambo, a city located at 2,792 m.a.s.l. Its name comes from “Ollanta”, a legendary Inca captain, and “Tambo”, which in Quechua means shelter or stop for travelers. During the Inca Empire, Ollantaytambo was an important military, agricultural and religious center, especially dedicated to the cult of water.
At the end of the tour around 4:00 p.m., you will have a couple of hours free to rest, have a coffee or enjoy the sunset surrounded by the imposing mountains.
At 6:30 p.m., you will report to the Ollantaytambo train station to continue your journey to Aguas Calientes. The train ride will be a unique scenic experience.
Upon arrival in Aguas Calientes, a representative of our team will be waiting for you to accompany you to your hotel, where you will receive all the necessary information for the long awaited next day: the visit to Machu Picchu.
We recommend a stroll through the village, full of restaurants, craft stores, jewelry stores and a cozy atmosphere surrounded by nature.
